The Billy GOAT™ Garden Fork is our adjustable T-handle fork for tighter garden work and more intensive soil loosening.
The handle height is fully adjustable for users from 5' to 6'3". Its 14-inch working width and 3.5-inch tine spacing make it easier to work in smaller beds and tighter spaces than a full-width broadfork.
Forged, hardened, laser-sharpened round tines are designed to penetrate and lift soil while providing excellent aeration.
Handmade in Tennessee with local ash wood handles and a wide step bar for comfortable foot pressure.

The Billy GOAT™ Root Fork uses six closely spaced tines for harvesting carrots, parsnips, and other root crops while also providing intensive soil aeration.
Choose the Right Fork
The GOAT™ All Wood
Five tines spaced 6 inches apart. Overall fork width is 26.5 inches.
A lighter option for routine aeration of established beds and prepared soil.
Wood handles can break if the tool is heavily leveraged in hard, rocky, compacted, or previously unworked ground. Choose Bottom Steel for those conditions.
Billy GOAT™ Garden Fork
Four tines spaced 3.5 inches apart. Overall fork width is 14 inches.
Hand Forged
Forged Round Tines
All Neversink forks use large, round tines that are forged, hardened, laser sharpened, and hand honed.
The round profile is designed to penetrate and lift soil for aeration rather than slice through it like a flat blade.
GOAT™ & Billy GOAT™ FAQ
Step on the bar to drive the tines into the soil, then pull the handles back just enough to lift and crack the soil without turning it over. Return the handles upright, step back, and repeat down the bed. The goal is to loosen and aerate the soil while leaving the soil layers largely in place.
The GOAT™ All Wood: Best for routine aeration of established beds and prepared soil when lower weight is the priority. Wood handles can break if the tool is heavily leveraged in hard, rocky, compacted, or previously unworked ground; choose Bottom Steel for those conditions.
The GOAT™ Bottom Steel: Best for rocky, hard, compacted, or previously unworked ground where maximum lower-handle durability is preferred.
Billy GOAT™ Broad Fork: Best when you want a narrower 19.5-inch broadfork with an adjustable T-handle and 6-inch tine spacing.
Billy GOAT™ Garden Fork: Best for tighter garden work and more intensive soil loosening with 3.5-inch tine spacing.
Billy GOAT™ Root Fork: Best for root-crop harvesting and intensive soil aeration with 2.3-inch tine spacing.
For broadforking, we prefer large, round forged tines rather than flat blades. Round tines are designed to penetrate and lift the soil to create air space, while flat blades tend to slice through it.
6-inch spacing: best for general broadforking and deep bed aeration.
3.5-inch spacing: better for tighter garden work and more intensive soil loosening.
2.3-inch spacing: best for root-crop harvesting and very close, intensive aeration.
Choose The GOAT™ Bottom Steel for hard, rocky, compacted, or previously unworked ground. These conditions often require more leverage, which can break wood handles. The steel lower handles are the better choice when you expect that kind of work.
Yes. Wood handles can break if the tool is heavily leveraged in hard, rocky, compacted, or previously unworked ground. The All Wood model is intended for established beds, prepared soil, and routine aeration. If you expect difficult ground or heavy leverage, choose The GOAT™ Bottom Steel.
Wood handle parts are not covered by the Lifetime Guarantee on the steel components.
Choose the All Wood model for established beds, prepared soil, and routine aeration when lower tool weight is the priority. It weighs 15.7 lb.
Do not choose the All Wood model for hard, rocky, compacted, or previously unworked ground if you expect to use heavy leverage. Wood handles can break under those conditions; choose Bottom Steel instead.
The Billy GOAT™ Root Fork is designed for harvesting root crops. Its six closely spaced tines help lift a 14-inch-wide section of bed while also providing intensive soil aeration.
A wider fork covers more bed with each pass and works well in open production beds. A narrower fork is easier to maneuver in tighter spaces, raised beds, and smaller gardens. The GOAT™ is 26.5 inches wide, the Billy GOAT™ Broad Fork is 19.5 inches wide, and the Billy GOAT™ Garden and Root Forks are 14 inches wide.
The Bottom Steel version of The GOAT™ requires some assembly. Assembly instructions are provided in video format.
Protection
Is the Steel Coated?
Yes. Billy GOAT™ steel is protected with natural linseed oil.
We intentionally do not powder coat the working steel. Powder coating is a polymer finish, and repeated contact with soil can wear it from the tines and leave coating particles behind in your soil.
Linseed oil provides a simple, renewable protective finish without putting a plastic-like coating on the working surface of the tool.
Keep the tool clean and dry when not in use, and reapply oil periodically to protect the steel.
