Gridder Spools create straight rows and repeatable planting spacing across a growing bed.
Use them to:
- Lay out rows and plant positions for hand-transplanted crops
- Mark straight guide rows before running a Paperpot Transplanter
Additional planting patterns can be created from the same grid by using the corners, sides, and centers of the marked squares.
Spools are available for 24", 30", and 40" bed widths in multiple row configurations.
REQUIRED FOR USE
A matching Gridder Handle is required and sold separately. Handle and spool bed widths must match.
- 24" spool → 24" handle
- 30" spool → 30" handle
- 40" spool → 40" handle
DIBBLE SPIKE COMPATIBILITY
Gridder Dibble Spikes fit bolted 3-, 4-, 5-, and 6-row spools. They do not fit 2-row spools.
Each dibble weighs approximately 1 lb. Fully equipped 5- and 6-row spools become especially heavy.
TRANSPORT & HANDLING
Before moving the Gridder, remove all dibbles from the spool and place them on a Gridder Dibble Holder. Roll the Gridder from place to place with no dibbles installed on the spool.
Some assembly is required because the spool ships flat. Assembly instructions are provided in video format.
Spool only. Gridder Handle sold separately.

The Gridder
Easy, quick, and perfectly straight plantings every time. This helps ensure even growth and faster cultivation.
The Gridder is a rolling dibbler used to lay out a grid for your plantings. It can also make straight lines before direct seeding or using a Paperpot transplanter.
Essential Tool
Gridder Spool Spacing
Below is an example of a two-row spool layout on a 30" bed.
Plants Are 15" Apart
Plants Have 15" × 15" Spacing
Even, straight plantings are more productive and easier to cultivate.
The Gridder creates straight, evenly spaced plantings. Each spool corresponds to the number of rows you intend to mark or plant, dividing the bed evenly by that number of rows. For example, a two-row spool on a 30" bed creates two rows spaced 15" apart. For even plantings, the in-row spacing and row spacing are the same.
Three rows on a 30" bed: 30 ÷ 3 = 10", so the rows are spaced 10" apart.
Four rows on a 30" bed: 30 ÷ 4 = 7.5", so the rows are spaced 7.5" apart.

Dibble Spikes
No tools required. No bolts or screws. These stainless steel dibbles are great for plastic mulch and hard soils.
Standardization
Post your own planting chart to clearly communicate your standard planting distances.
