Pressure regulator for drip tape installations. Regulator is placed on the mainline at the water source where mainline is attached. Works perfectly with the mainline hose connectors that we sell.
Specs: FHT (Female Hose Thread) x MHT (Male Hose Thread)
Inlet pressure max 95 psi, throughput 7.0 gpm
Drip requires max pressure be set to less than 15 psi.
Perfect for tomatoes and cucumbers inside a hoop house, drip can water roots without wetting the plant.
Knowing your flow rate is critical to sizing your system. If you don't know, you can find out by filling a five gallon bucket at the point of connection for your drip irrigation. Time how many seconds it takes to fill the five gallon bucket.
(60 / Seconds to FIll) * 5 = The GPM or gallons per minute of your water source
Example (60 / 15 seconds to fill bucket) * 5 = 20 GPM
A 30" wide bed should have 2 to 3 lines of drip tape. For quick absorbing soil, sand, or tightly spaced crops, three rows makes more sense. The rule of thumb is for every 12" of bed width, a line of drip should be added.
Multiply number of beds X drip lines X length of bed
So for a 100' x 30' hoop house with eight rows of 30" beds, the calculation would be
8 beds X 3 drip lines each bed X 100 feet of bed = 2400 feet of drip tape
How much water flow is Needed?
You would multiply the water needs of the drip tape X feet of drip tape being used
Continuing our example
( 2400 feet of drip taope / 100, the rated length) X 0.6 GPM (8" Spaced Tape)
= 14.4 GPM to irrigate the entire 30 x 100' hoop house
If your flow rate is less than the amount needed to irrigate, then the drip tape must be zoned. This means dividing the hoop house into sections that will be irrigated seperately.
